THE STORY OF PRIDE
HALLELUJAH DISCO began three years ago at London’s XOYO, where the incredible reception motivated Siano to build the show we now call "HALLELUJAH DISCO: Stonewall to Studio 54." HALLELUJAH DISCO is a SHOW! Nicky Siano describes his experiences in New York City, starting in 1969, when he arrived in the West Village for a night out and unknowingly stepped into the historic STONEWALL RIOTS. Rare visuals are projected behind him. As the video's and photo's relate to each line Nicky recites, the audience becomes immersed in the experience Nicky lived through, the 1970's in NEW YORK CITY. The visual experience becomes so real that when a filmed conversation with Nicky's deceased protege Frankie Knuckles is recreated LIVE, gasps I heard throughout the audience. As each segment of descriptions ends, the eight piece gospel choir takes the stage and sings a disco classic, reproduced by Siano to enhance the gospel feel. Reaction to the show has been nothing less then astonishing.
In the ashes of the STONEWALL RIOTS, Siano and a handful of peers, all sadly gone, started the dance music revolution that hit New York City during the 1970's. He built the revolutionary club, that many call ‘the first disco', The Gallery. That is where he launched the careers of Loleatta Holloway, Grace Jones and world renowned DJ’s Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckle. He met Steve Rubell in 1975 and began playing for him at THE ENCHANTED GARDEN, and in 1977, he was the first DJ hired to play at Studio 54.
There are plenty of stories to fill the night, and the 95 minute show goes by in a flash!
Nicky's message remains consistent with his music. "LOVE is and will always be THE MESSAGE. DO NOT forgot why we are here, to spread, share and experience love."
